Q: How do I add books to my iTunes Library in iTunes 11?

How do I add books to my iTunes Library in iTunes 11?  I believe I used to add books to the books section in the Library, but now all I see in my Library are music, movies, TV shows, and apps.

    Open iTunes
Go to Edit then Preferences | or CTRL+,  (Just find your way to preferences)

    Now choose the Generals tab

    Then tick "Books"
    hit OK

now the Books tab will appear on the left side bar.

Now all you have to do is drag and drop your .PDF books.

This is not so in the new iTunes 11.3.1  I wish it was this easy.

Are you on a Mac with OS X Mavericks on it ? If you are then you add books to its iBooks app (File > Add To Library) and they should then show on a device's Books tab for selecting and syncing to the device.

iBooks is now a separate app. You can add them directly to the iBooks app on a Mac. If you want to add a book to your iPad, you can email it to yourself, open it in your iPad email, then select to open in iBooks. It will then install it on your iPad.

    Piece of Cake...

First of all you have to add it to iBooks...

Later in itunes, under the same way to add music and stuff, go to books, and choose whatever flavour you want and sync.

Sorry for the long delay, but this is the thing. I have added epubs not purchased through apple, to my ibooks, but I can't seem to get them in to my itunes 12.3.1.23 on my mac OS X El Capitan v. 10.11.1. How do I add just the new epubs that are amongst my old epubs into itunes?

P.S. I do the add library and select from an external folder, not from ibooks and it only says "open". I select a book and the hit open and nothing gets added.

I randomly figured it out by getting mad. I connected my ipad to get the books selection. I got mad and selected all epubs from ibooks and dragged and dropped them into itunes books. BOOM only the new ones were added. Happy Days. Thanks for all the help folks. I hope this works for y'all.

I try to add books to my iPad using iTune 12. I have already have the book -PDF downloaded- in my iBook on Mac; how to have it on my iPad? I have read other comments but are not applicable in iTune 12 as it does'nt have 'Books" in sidebar.

The process is similar for the current version of iTunes, assuming that you aren't using iCloud Drive for your books : connect the iPad to your Mac, select it in your Mac's iTunes, and you should have a series of tabs on the left-hand side of the screen, including one for books :
