Hi guys well my iphone 5 was stolen and im guessing he took the sim out and turned it off considering i cant call it. It is locked tho. So if the sim is out and it is off and locked is there any chance i have of getting it back? Like when if he turns it on will it send me a signal of where it is using find my iphone? which i had installed btw. Many thanks guys

so now that the sim is out there is 100% no way to trace it? what if he puts his own sim in it will it pop up?
Sorry for you lost. If Find My iPhone is set, you can issue a wipe.
I don't think you will get it back. Report to the local police and to your carrier.

I see what you mean. The thief can do a restore as new and that will wipe the iPhone anyway. If yours is stolen your chances of getting it back is zero, sadly.

No, Verizon uses CDMA and AT&T uses GSM.

That would work only if the thief were using the phone on your Verizon account, and he enables location services so he can be tracked. How likely is that???

Well im 100% sure that the phone is off and hasnt been turned on since it was taken. Therefore i also im 100% sure that the sim isnt in it. Therefore i dont think he has been using it because the sim was taken out. I have canceled the acc. Now verizon knows the phone was stolen, can the guy that stole it now use it with his own SIM and use it as his own new phone? And if he can when he plugs in his SIM or even just turn it on could i possibly locate it or do u think he would b smart enough to reset it b4 putting his SIM in it? UGGG sorry guys

No, the SIM card isn't needed for CDMA phones. It's used only to roam outside the USA with a GSM network. He can't use it with Verizon if you canceled the account.
Most stolen iPhones are sold within hours. There's a good chance of it being used outside the USA on a GSM network, using a different SIM card. There's no chance of you locating this phone. Report the theft to local police and move on.
