Losing Power PC applications

Having just upgraded my Imac to OSX 10.8.2 I can't open a couple of old but useful applications since I get the message "Power PC applications no longer supported". Are they lost, or can I do something to retrieve things? Thanks, JohnP

I seem to remember seeing another thread about Canon Lide 70 scanner drivers? If this is firewire the Parallels solution will not work, as no virtualization software emulates a firewire port!

This thread suggests that using Apple’s Image Capture (in your Applications folder) will solve the problem.

Here is another user suggesting that he uses his Canon Lide 70 in Mountain Lion.

Hope you did not get too "used" to not being able to use them! 🙂

Please do!

Palm was purchased by HP back in the days that they thought purchasing assets was a good idea. They discovered that it takes money to keep technology alive and viable; such as Compaq computers and Smartphone and Smart devices.

I think you will discover that, like HP's decision to abandon the Desktop Computer market (narrowly reversed just in time by new management), growing the Palm is not a major factor in their immediate future.

There is no "Intel" version of Palm Desktop software available and probably will not be for the foreseeable future.

If you tell me what you use Palm Desktop for and your future needs, I can advise you more intelligently.

PS: I was given the Palm VII for my birthday early in the year 2000! I wasted more money over the years on their wireless service (until Palm finally shut it down) than it cost my family to buy it for me! And, it was not cheap...

BUT: It was cool! 😉

I just reread your OP and you have another option:

Partition your hard drive or add an external hard drive and install Snow Leopard (with the optional Rosetta) into it and then you can "dual-boot" into Snow Leopard when you need to access Palm Desktop (but you will not have concurrent access to Mountain Lion, unless you use the Parallels solution I posted above).

Still, let me know your needs and future uses, so I can advise you better...
