Airplay mirroring gone

Airplay icon is gone when I double click home button, but it still appears in iTunes...however, there is no option to use mirroring. ipad and Apple TV both have most recent updates. Any idea how to get mirroring back (and how to get airplay icon back into recent apps)??

The problem is the airplay icon is gone from recent apps when I double click home. Until today it always appeared next to the 'play' button and I could activate mirroring from that spot. Now it's gone. I can activate airplay from within apps that support it (e.g. itunes), but there is no option for mirroring there. Need to figure out how to get it back in the apps bar at bottom of the screen??

Hi all,

Have the same issue as Breckskier.

Interesting problem, all other iPads work except mine on the same network.

The icon appears in iTunes to play music and works well with the ATV, also playing locally stored video has the icon displayed. But when I look for the mirroring icon its not there to use.

I have tried the same device on a different network with the same result where others work fine.

I dont want to reset the iPad because the restore takes hours over the network and sure it may fix the problem but I guess I will wait until IOS7, that may do the job. (and I've tried all the different resets possible)

I thought there may have been a setting that had been changed to stop showing the mirroring icon but I don't think so. Could have been an app update, who knows. Bit dissapointing though.

System:

iPad 2 - iOS v6.1.3(10B329) 32Gig

I had to set up an iPhone 5 and Apple TV via a Telstra 4G WiFi AP for a conference demo and all was working perfectly when the mirroring option abruptly disappeared.

I didn't think to reset networking, which may well have worked, but apart from a a full reset, we tried pretty much everything else.

It looked like we'd have to fall back to our HDMI cable (which had also been tested and worked perfectly). My colleague at the conference tried the cable, but it didn't work for some reason so she thought she'd try AirPlay again on the off-chance and, lo-and-behold, the mirroring option suddenly reappeared.

Perhaps the code that manages mirroring for both HDMI and AirPlay connections is buggy, rather than AirPlay itself and trying the HDMI connection unstuck it somehow.

If you've got an HDMI cable/adaptor for your device, it might save you a full reset.
