Now Mac mini beeps with no start up! Is this fixable?

Father in law owned Mac mini updated to mountain lion before handing it over to me. Was attempting an erase and reinstall of the original OS X DVD that came with the machine. Lost power during install and will not boot.

Are you able to boot into OS X recovery by holding the command and r keys down when you boot? If so, you'll have a minimal menu that allows you to download OS X 10.8 again. You'll need to log in as your father in law to avoid paying for OS X 10.8.

No the command + r key did not let me boot. Still no video output and a beep upon start up coming from the machine. My instal disc still in the optical drive, not sure how to retrieve that.

Beeps coming from the system, sometimes accompanied by the power LED blinking, usually means there is a memory issue. Try reseating your memory, swap memory cards, if they are 2GB cards try booting with one then the other. If no changes, take it in for service.

To get DVD out, reboot and press and hold down the left mouse button until the disc ejects. Given the status of your system, you may not get far enough in the boot process for this to work.
