hi the same thing has happend to my phone! i dont know what to do know! the updated has broken my phone doesnt hold battery any more and rang apple and they said i will have to pay for it to be fixed! cos its out of warranty i dont know what to do ! ive restored it 3 times works fine for 5 minutes then loses service and dies out!

Mine is stuck in recovery loop. Tried to restore it about 30 times or so. Even in DFU mode. Nothing happened, except for different error messages (21, 11, -1). It's an iPhone 4s, but the idiot that owned the phone before me tried to jailbreak it. I think he damaged the baseband software.

Apple does not repair phones, they replace them. A 4S is US$199 for an out of warranty replacement. If it was jailbroken, and they figure that out, they may refuse to offer an out of warranty replacement at all.
