Podcast feed not updating

I have had a podcast posting once a week for the last month. All of a sudden this week's post hasn't updated either on my podcast app on my phone -- which in the past has updated immediately -- or on the iTunes site. Nothing appears to be different with this latest post (2.7.13) compared to the others. Not sure what is going on. Can any of you help?

There are WIDESPREAD issues with itunes right now.

Take a look at any podcast and you'll see that there are no recent episodes. Nothing newer than the 6th, possibly early on the 7th.

something happened on the 7th clearly, that still hasn't been resolved.

Along with episodes not updating, it's also become impossible to add new podcast feeds.

Apple has given no response.

This is not an iTunes problem: I have to tell you that it's of your own making. Your latest episode (dated today, so it wouldn't have appeared in the Store by now in any case) does not appear when subscribing and will not appear in ths Store because it has no 'enclosure' tag containing the URL of the media file. Consequently iTunes does not see it as containing playable media and will not display the episode. The media file URL appears only in the 'description' tag as a download link, but iTunes does not read this tag.

Your earlier episodes work OK so you need to do for the latest episode whatever it was you did for them to get the episode to show. Note that even when you've cured the problem it will take a couple of days or so for it to appear in the Store - this is entirely normal and nothing to do with the current problems which are afflicting people trying to submit new podcasts.

It's quite normal for new episodes not to appear in the Store for a couple of days, though they should appear for subscribers pretty well immediately if they are correctly formatted. The current problems do not appear to be anything to do with episodes updating, though people trying to submit entirely new podcasts are finding they get error messages.

It's certainly not an iTunes issue with the OP's podcast. So far I've seen no evidence of failure to update when feed were OK - which isn't to say it's not happening - and sometimes the Store can take a bit longer than the usual two days. If you feel like posting the iTunes Store pages of one or two podcasts you think are being affected I can have a look and whether there's any evidence of an issue: remember that episodes posted only yesterday or today are not likely to appear in the Store just yet (though they should appear when subscribing).

Dave Ramsey show is one for instance. That show does update every single day and has not been updating since the 5th. The Offical Playstation Blogcast and the Film Vault are two others. These update without an issue normally and they have not posted their newest content. Apple/ITUNES had this very same issue in November. It seems unlikely that they are all doing something wrong. Apple may have changed something, the content managers may have missed a change, or it wasn't communicated properly. Whatever the case, none have updated.

Hi Roger-

new to this forum. Not even sure I am posting in the right spot? first of all thank you...seems you are helping alot of folks like me navigate the waters around here! i just have a quick question as a newbie... (story) i have been submitting podcast to another entity for free and getting a great response. have over 22,500 fb friends for the show and i am told about 10thousand a month dowloading podcast? my problem is that this other entity is not very good with getting my shows up in a timely manner and is keeping all ad revenue. this year i have decided to host my own etc. they have my old shows in archive on itunes and that's fine, but i have now created my own account...with the same show name, but instead of their company name it now includes my name (the host) as the secondary by line. MY question is that i just set up everything (by the book/letter) as far as i can tell to host my own account on itunes. i am now in the two week waiting period as of today.

1) am i going to have to wait two weeks for each show?

2) will i beable to add the rest of my archive podcasts? for some reason it only allowed me to upload one?

3) and will i only recieve my feed Id that apple is to provide ONCE they approve the first podcsast?

THANKS FOR THE HELP and sorry if ALL or any of this sounds like "rookie" questioning.

It can take a couple of weeks for a new podcast to be approved but once that's done you don't have to get approval to add episodes. New episodes appear immediately for subscribers and usually it takes a couple of days for them to appear in the Store.

You can add any episodes you like. I can't say why you wouldn't be able to add an episode.

When your podcast is approved Apple will send you an email giving you the URL of your Store page.

It may help you to read my page on podcasting:

Do come back to ask questions if you need to, but could you please start a new thread when you do so - if you add onto someone else's thread it can make things get quite confusing as you get interleaved answers - as is happening with this thread.

Roger:

Would you take a look at my podcast?

http://welcome2hope.org/category/podcastsfeed/feed/

I use wordpress and all was working well until I updated my plug-in and then everything seemed to go to pot. Feeds would no longer validate and so I had to go in to make changes. I went back to my old standard that was working and the feed is validating, but nothing has shown up yet.

Could I ask you to take a look at it and see if everything looks like it is feeding correctly? Specifically as you mentioned in a previous note checking the 'enclosure' tag containing the URL of the media file and seeing if it looks OK to you?

I think I have everything set up correctly and I know sometimes it does take a while to show up, but with this podcast, this usually isn't the case, and I am nervous I still have something that is not set correctly.

Thanks

Randy
