I purchased keynote from the app store over a year ago.  However, now, when I open keynote, I receive the iWork prompt that my trial is over and I won't be able to save my keynote presentation until I enter my serial number for iWork. 

 

How do I stop this from happening?  I could care less about iWork.

    Deleting keynote and its constituent files, then reinstalling a new download of Keynote from the the  app store, sorts this out.

     

    using Appcleaner makes this a simple task

    Hi,

     

    I had the same problem. I noticed that when I start keynote and then open a file everything works. If I click directly on the file then I have the same problem.

     

    I find it unacceptable that this happens!

    The original post was regarding continuing to use an expired trial version of Keynote which obviously wont work after the trial has expired.

     

    Otherwise I would recommend this maintenance procedure to re-instate Keynote:

     

    1

    Uninstall all of iWork if you have this, otherwise uninstall Keynote on its own if other iWork applications are not installed.

     

    This must be done with an application remover to delete the installation properly. Appcleaner is known to work correctly for this purpose, it is free and can be downloaded from here:   Appcleaner Download

    empty the trash

     

    3

    shutdown the Mac and restart. After the start up chime, hold down the shift key until the apple logo appears

     

    let the Mac complete the start up procedure completely, it will take longer than usual as the software installation on the hard drive is being repaired

    go to;   Applications > Utilities > Disc Utility > First Aid > Repair Disc Permissions

    when this is completed restart the Mac normally

    Reinstall iWork or Keynote as appropriate using the original method on purchase, using the installer file or install from the App Store.

    Or simply right click on  any keynote file. Choose get Info then choose the right Keynote installation from the App store then click on CHANGE ALL.

     

    Job done. But Gary with the good advice as well simply remove the iWork installation entirely then reinstall from the App Store the App store version. 

    The orginal post was about a purchased keynote version that works like it is still on trial. Which is the same problem I have. Now I don't want to reinstall everything, as I cannot find the serial number anymore. The solution I found is to open keynote app and then open the file I want to edit rather than clicking directly on the file. Don't know it works. I insist that it is unacceptable that this happens.

    @sabatica, what do u mean by choosing the right keynote version? I have only one version installed. Why do you think could fix the problem? Maybe if I understand what is the problem it will be easier.

    I read it. As I said I don't want to reinstall everything as I cannot find the serial number now and I might not sure that by doing this will fix the issue (while now I found a trick that it works).

    IF you are using a TRIAL installation then you have the same problem as stated earleir. Please learn to stop & think cause in our quiet moments it all becomes clear.

     

    if you have a trial you DO NOT HAVE A SERIAL NUMBER.

    purchased = bought => this is NOT a trial version but there is still a problem LIKE it is a trial version.

    do we agree that this was NOT a trial and the guy actually PURCHASED keynote? I start to suspect that not you nor Gary Scotland actually read that post or my post... I would be glad if you prove me wrong.
