Help with "https://r.twimg.com/jot"

I have a late 2011 MPB with OSX 10.8.2. I am constantly getting "https://r.twimg.com/jot" popping up in safari. This is really annoying when I'm working on one page and it suddenly moves to this tab to open this link. I have no idea what it is. I thought it was something to do with twitter at first but I have deleted that account entirely and disabled it on the computer. I have emptied the cache on safari and reset it as well with no luck.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated. This is the first time I have posted here so hopefully I have given enough information and someone else has ran into this before.

Thanks in advance!!!

Hi Matt,

Thanks for the suggestion. Yeah, my homepage is on Google.ca. When I open safari, it goes to my homepage with no problem. However, for no reason, while I'm browsing, a new tab suddenly opens with this link. The page is blank but the r.twimg.com/jot is in the address bar. Even if I'm on another desktop entirely, my screen will suddenly slide over to the desktop with safari on it and open this tab. I have no idea what it is, but again, I'm not exactly a computer genius. I have had no other problems with my mac so it doesn't seem to be affecting anything other then being annoying. I ran disk utility and all that as well to see if that would help and everything checked out fine.

don't know if this helps, but the actual words on the tab that is opened by this link reads: "jot 1x1 pixels". I really think this is some sort of twitter thing which is weird because I have never used twitter at all from this computer (though my account was set up for some time, I just never used it)

Also, after much playing around. I think I found something that seems to trigger it. Not sure if this coincidence but if I slide over to dashboard and wait a second or two, then it always slides over to safari again and opens this tab. Could this be some to do with a widget? I don't have a twitter widget and just the basic ones (calculator, etc....) with a couple animated GIFS from the internet.

Back again. I deleted almost all of my widgets on the dashboard and it seems they are now no longer not appearing!

I also had a "linkin" pop up and it now does not appear either. It actually seemed like a widget I have had for a long time - such as "Dictionary" or "currency converter". I suspected it may have been a more commercial widget but no.

Anyway, thanks heaps. This has been a problem for months!!

Ver happy🙂
