How can I turn off messaging on my son's ipod?

I am trying to turn off messaging on my son's 5th gen ipod touch. But when I go to settings, "Messaging" is greyed out, and I can't do anything with it. My daughter and I both have 4th gen ipods with the same apple ID and we are able to adjust our Messaging settings just fine. Acc. to itunes, his ipod does not need to be updated. icloud, facetime, and a couple of others are also greyed out in settings, but we don't use those, so it doesn't bother me. Any ideas?

I have a similar question. I bought my son an iPod touch 6th generation to play Pokemon Go. He helped pay for half of it with birthday money, he is nine. Aside from the fact that I am starting to wonder if the iPod touch will play Pokemon Go, even though it supposedly uses wi-if to get location I'm starting to worry that isn't enough.

That aside, I received a message saying that his ipod touch will receive my text messages (along with other things.). I don't want my son's ipod touch to recieve MY text messages. My iPad does this too, which I am ok with...

Do I use the same method to disable this "feature?"

Thank you!

Hi there. My explanation may be long but if you want me to clarify then you can just ask me.

I think your son may have Restrictions. It is a feature that lets you "gray out" stuff like Messaging, Twitter, etc. If he does then some stuff would be grayed out. One of the things you can disable in Restrictions is adding, removing, and modifying accounts (like Messaging, Calendar, etc.)

If you want to remove this feature, then you can:

1. Go to Settings

2. Go to General

3. Go to Restrictions

4. For this part, you will NEED to know your sons Restrictions password.

5. Scroll to the bottom and go to "Accounts"

6. Select 'Allow Changes'.

Then you can go to the Messages' settings and disable it.
