Do I manually update adobe flash player?

I keep getting an error say that Safari is still open, but I closed it and it still tells me that it still open. I'm beginning to get frustrated with this >.< If it works on my phone so well..? Whats up with my Mac??? At least with my PC it goes off without a hitch just like my phone..? They need to get better with these updates, everything was going well until the last updates? I hope there are some answers?
