Wallpaper defaults to previous selection

Selecting a new wallpaper is fine.

Upon restart it jumps back to previous wallpaper, however on opening the wallpaper preferences, the thumbnail is of the one I just had selected even though on my desktop it shows the previous image.

Is there a fix for this?

I am on ML latest update on retina macbook pro 15" on setting of the scaled retina to smallest view

Thanks!

I have seen a lot of cases like this. First, try deleting the Desktop settings file.

To do it, open Finder, select Go menu > Go to Folder, and type ~/Library/Preferences. Then, delete "com.apple.desktop.plist" and "com.apple.systempreferences.plist", and restart. Finally, open System Preferences > Desktop & Screensaver, and check if it's working correctly now
