Podcast won't delete

Recently I have had a problem where some podcast episodes won't delete on my ipad. I swipe to delete them but they reappear. I have deleted the podcast app and reinstalled then synced again and they reappear. If I try to play them it says " error playback failed". I've tried to find a solution over the past few weeks but didn't succeed. I saw where some people had luck by going to Settings>General>Usage>Music (or Podcasts) and finding the hung up ones in there to delete. I don't see anything in there on my ipad, though there are podcasts listed under there in my iPhone. I use iCloud and music match, I don't know if that's relevant information but though I'd share it in case it helps. I just updated from 6.0 to 6.1 which didn't help. I just checked a few of the problem ones and they aren't on my iPhone although I have podcast syncing turned on. Any clue what's wrong?
