WPA2 Personal is the default security on Apple Routers so that s not going to be causing the issue. Try basic some basic troubleshooting i.e. power cycling the router and apple tv.
Keep in mind that when you change the password on your network you need to reconnect the apple tv to it with the new password.
If you tried these, follow the troublshooting provided by the following article:

have done all of the above troubleshooting and still the probleam continues.
when I have no security on the wifi everything works. When I turn on the security the problem starts back.
I reconnect to the network with new password every time I turn on security
Interesting... what kind of router are you using?
Lets put it this way. We know the apple tv works because w/o security it's fine. As stated before the Apple TV works with WAP2 Personal Security. If you are using Enterprise you will run into problems. If it is personal I'm guessing that when you are turning the security on it's also turning on a firewall which is blocking the ports that the apple TV requires.
Open the following ports up on your router:
These network ports are used by Apple TV for communications on your network.

Sharing Ethernet through airport on the iMac
did a port scan here are the results
Port Scan has started…
Port Scanning host:
Open TCP Port: 3689 daap
Open TCP Port: 49157
Open TCP Port: 49768
Port Scan has completed…
also works fine with WEP secrity. Which I understand isn't very secure
Same here sharing ethernet internet through iMac WiFi, no security everything airplays fine... with WPA2 airplay is not working...
and after i switched my internt sharing wifi to the more secure wpa2, I no longer get the choice to go back to WEP... so I can't go back to that and I can't go with no security... and airplay is not working with WPA2?
Hi.
I have this exact same issue, with the exact same setup - sharing ethernet through the Airport on my iMac.
When I change to WPA2 for security purposes, the Apple TV only sees the wifi intermittently at first. Then it loses sight of it altogether.
Has anyone found a solution to this yet?
Thanks.
Hi NYLAgibson.
Did you ever manage to fix this problem? I'm still experiencing it.
I have the same issue here. Is there any official saying about that?
I called AppleCare, and they asked me to contact the network provider to open those required ports, but no luck.
