Q: Download Apple Hardware Test for MacbookPro4,1?
I have a MacbookPro4,1 that is crashing. I think it's the CPU, but I am not sure. I want to run the Apple Hardware Test, but I guess I don't have it.
Holding opt-D during boot doesn't change the boot sequence (goes straight to login)
Holding cmd-D during boot doesn't change the boot sequence (goes straight to login)
Holding D during boot shows the gray boot screen for 15-20 seconds, then goes to login
The MacbookPro is running Mountain Lion, but I don't have any of the physical install media the machine came with. I have a bootable Mountain Lion USB made from the OS as I purchased it from the App Store, but booting into it doesn't offer an Apple Hardware Test option, and holding D while it's plugged in doesn't change the behavior as described above.
I found articles online that show how to download AHT from apple's site if you know a special 4 digit ID for your machine, but I can't find what this 4 digit ID is for the MacbookPro4,1.
Does anyone know how I can get AHT for this MacbookPro without ordering it from Apple? What a hassle.
Thanks.
