Macbook pro connected to network but no internet connection

Hey all,

i have a Macbook pro, running on OS X 10.6.8,

i made a software update, where a java update was made, an HP printer update, a Itunes ipdate and a Macbook Pro SMC firmware update 1.6.

Since then, i cant connect to the internet.

I ran network diagnostics and it says "your connection appears to be working correctly".

Same if i plug in the Lan-cable to my laptop.

Network diagnostics says that my internet is running correctly, but no browser or any other program can connect to the internet.

tried it at 2 different location (home and work) and nothing works. Other laptops have internet connection through the same router and wifi.

restarted router and wifi, did not help

restarted wifiAirport multiple times, wont help,

restarted Laptop multiple times, wont help.

renewed DHCP, and IP adress, i get a new ip adress, and it says im connected but it wont work.

any other ideas?

That doesn't mean anything. You can't telnet to google. lol

The ping you did above shows you that Internet access and DNS is working fine. If it wasn't, you wouldn't be able to get replies. This means that the problem is with your browser. Open up Safari and hit Safari/Reset Safari under it's menu. See if that works to solve your issue. If it doesn't, then it's a plugin or something else (maybe Proxy changes, etc.) which could be causing this. One option you have to test is if the reset doesn't fix it, install another browser (you'll need to download the dmg via another PC and install it on the mac from a memory stick or something) and see if a 3rd party browser works.

Click on your WIFI network connection next to your clock and pick Open Network Preferences. Then when the next screen comes up, click on Advanced and then Proxies. Make sure everything is unchecked there. If they were already unchecked and it still doesn't work, then something is messing with your browsers on that system. It would take an OS reload or other file manipulation to restore the function. The fact that ping still works indicates that this isn't really a networking issue.
