Java is not installing on my Mac O X 10.6.8.

At Java.com says its available at Apple Software Update. They don't offer Java for this Mac version
Tried to update software many times, still does not appear any Java at System Preferenses.

What do I do?

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.8)
