When publishing a site with iWeb, I always get very long domain names like www.ostendbeach.be/OSTENDBEACH/index.html in my browser.
Can I choose to only see www.ostendbeach.be with no other referrals to sub-folders in my browser ?

Yes, you can :
Subfolders are a convenient way to organise a website based on topic, subject or whatever you choose.
I've been doing that for the past 16 years. With or without iWeb :
If you click the link to your domainname, you'll see an iWeb page about a dance festival last year.
So you know how to do it.
yeah - but I did it now through some changes in my ftp program Cyberduck, not directly in iWeb
iWeb publishes a folder with the sitename. Like it or not.

I also recently noticed that 000webhost displays a nasty pop up on each page of the dailynes site. Well, that's the price I pay for "free".
It does not change the concept of avoiding the site name I describe. It works on most webservers.
