The last patch to my apple TVs are causing problems.

The latest patch for my Apple TV is causing the device to reset to the top menu every 3-4 minutes when I pause the video or I am inactive on it for a few minutes. This is a problem because when it resets I have to navigate though all the sub menus and fast forward the video to get back to where I can continue watching the video. Also, the screen saver never activates and the automatic shut down never activates. Is there a fix for this or can the new patch be removed until they get it fixed? I've patched 2 of my 4 devices and both do the same thing. Any suggestions?

Welcome to the Apple Community.

First you should try logging out of your iTunes Store account (settings > iTunes Store > accounts) and then back in again.
If that doesn't help, try resetting the Apple TV (Settings > General > Reset > Reset all settings). You should also try restarting your router.
If both of the above don't help, you should try a restore (Settings > General > Reset > Restore).

I have been having this exact same problem and it's been driving me crazy - I was surprised that I didn't find widespread complaints after the update came out! The second solution (resetting the Apple TV settings) worked for me - thanks so much.

Thank you, this worked. I had to hit the remote key every minute or so for the 40 min. during the restore because when the unit reset itself it would cancel out the restore. All said and done, both units are fixed now. Thank You.
