iphone shutdown during video recording

Hi folks! i've got several times a very strange problem during video recording. my iphone 4s (but it happened also to my brother iphone) shutting down during video recording giving the message about low battery.

to restart the iphone i need to connect to the battery charger but after the boot the battery is not drained. Today for example happened and the battery after the boot while connected to the battery charger was 53%.

As it happens also to by brother iphone 4s i don't think that it's an hardware problem, and the funny thing is that it happens in a random way. Some tims i'm able to register 1h of video without problems, other times 3m/5m and the iphone shutdown.

iPhone 4S, iOS 6.1

I have the exact same issue when recording video with my iphone 6s.

I start to record with full battery, and after about 10 minutes of recording the iphone shut down. Can't restart without plugin it, but when it restarts the battery still has more than 60% of power.

I would definitely like to have an answer from apple regarding this issue.

Thanks for the answer, but the iPhone had a lot of battery, more than 60% and after connected to the charger 53%, so I think that there's some bug some where in the iOS/ video recording API as it happens only during video recording (quite strange isn't ?)

I'll try to "recalibrate" the battery

Video recording uses a lot of power, so if your battery is marginal or has high internal resistance so its voltage drops to the point that it is detected as discharged.

The other possibility is that the battery gauge needs to be calibrated. To do this run the battery down until the phone shuts off, charge for 4 hours with the wall charger, then repeat the whole process.

Recalibrated but I've got the same behavior, after 17m of video recording the iPhone shutdown due lo low battery,but once connected to the charger after the boot I've got 63% of battery. I really think that there's a bug on the video recording on ios6

This is happening with my Iphone 5 with latest iOS. I'll record video and it will rapidly discharge battery. If it shuts down and I plug it in two minutes later it will come back with over 50% battery.

I've drained it completely dead then charged it for at least 4 hours numerous times. I started a seperate discussion about this and my phone's horrible battery life in general.

How do you know the battery has more than 60% charge if the calibration is off? That's why the first step is to calibrate the gauge, so you will know.
