hello everybody, so is there a way where you can update the nano 7th generation?

I got the new nano touch for christmas, and i assumed that it would be a smaller version of an ipod touch. but now im more aware that apple didnt use the ios that most touchs have, so insted the used os? can u update os like you do ios or no? i would like to get more out of the nano touch than what it has now.
