Imac runs aground

My iMac (OS X Mountain Lion updated 14-08-2012) runs aground several times a day. Als forced stop does not work wenn running aground.

I downloaded smart utility and the give Drive failing an recommend to backup (doing that all the time) an replace drive. That sounds serious and I don't no what that mains and what to do?

Can somebody give some advice?

Hello Sandra,

Good work, & yes, that is very serious, you could lose all your data without a backup.

Get a Backup drive ASAP, these come with backup SW also...

It means the drive needs to be replaced. Depending on what model you have, this may apply:

https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-1992 explains some backup options. As others say, now is time to start thinking backup/recovery, and then changing drives.
