Feb 2013 Adobe Flash Player Upgrade Install Does not work - metafile issue

I tried uploading the Feb 2013 update without success. Adobe troubleshooting suggested uninstalling existing version of AFP - which I did - still get "Metafile Instalation failed" - now have NO AFP. Adobe says they are aware of the issue and working on it. Any ideas as to how to reupload my old AFP version??

  1. Mount the Flash Player installer .dmg file
  2. Copy the "Install Adobe Flash Player" file to desktop or any other directory as preferred
  3. Open terminal and cd to desktop or the other directory
  4. Run the following command on terminal: sudo ./Install\ Adobe\ Flash\ Player.app/Contents/MacOS/Install\ Adobe\ Flash\ Player
  5. Insert the password when asked

GenXos - thank you - I ended up on the phone with Bob from Apple Care last night - the apparent issue was that the source that Adobe provided for download could not supply the metafiles - Bob found a direct way into Adobe - which I assume is what your command on line 4 indicates and the download was complete in less than 30 secs.

Adobe has noted this as an issue on their site but has done zilch to redirect people as you and Bob have done. A 30 sec fix had me tied up for nearly 12 hours yesterday (yes I am computer illiterate) because of Adobe's inability to comminicate a solution.

TG for Apple - always - and thank you all.

That's great to hear that you were able to find a solution.

I've been trying to fix this issue with Adobe for 5 days now and no one is coming back to me (tried the terminal cd solution and it doesn't work).

Luigi could you expand on where you were directed to find a solution? Running

sudo ./Install\ Adobe\ Flash\ Player.app/Contents/MacOS/Install\ Adobe\ Flash\ Player

has only given me a "command no found" message.

Thanks

Ciaran

Apple Support helped me - we trouble shot for nearly an hour before Bob gave me an Adobe http address that ended in the number 3. I do not have it.

We tried it and it worked like a charm. If you have Apple Support access I would contact them. Bob took meticulous notes so there is a possibility that they've archived the matter (I think that was why Bob was taking notes) they'll be able to help in a few minutes. The site I eventually went to looked physically very different to the others I'd been trying to work with all day- it had broad time tracker arrows

Having gone throught this, I'm really sorry I can't be of much help.

Luigi
