Where are my public domain books? I have downloaded many public domain books in ibooks. Did a backup, then updated to new version software 5.1.1. Can't restore any of the books I had. Kindle books restored OK. Whats up?

The contents of the iBooks app isn't included in an iPad backup. If you did File > Transfer Purchases prior to starting the update then even though they weren't purchased/downloaded from iTunes they should have copied over to the Books part of your computer's iTunes library - in which case you should be able to sync them back to your iPad via the device's Books tab.
