MAIL app--how to universally delete a group of opened [by mistake] emails from same sender

using MAIL app, by mistake, opened 400 emails [from same sender], when trying to delete; now when i go to MAIL app--all 400 open up, allowing me to do nothing else--how to delete all 400? thanks!

MacBook Air, Mac OS X (10.7.5)

Do you mean that all 400 windows open, one on top of another? If so you can press the option key and click on the red button in the upper lefthand corner of one of the emails. They all will then close.
