How do i download quicktime onto my macbook pro?

Iv just got a macbook pro and i cant figure out which wuicktime to download in order for me to play movies that my boyfriend has on his external hard drive?? Anyone know anything about this??

Quicktime Player already exists on your Mac. But you may need specific Codex that know the movie format.

You might try VLC which can generally play any video format.
