Your contacts will be in whatever program you have chosen to sync.

If you have failed to sync them with your computer, as the iphone is designed, then they are very likely gone. You can try restoring from bakup

Same thing happended to me after the update.

If you had iCloud backing up contacts, turn on iCloud, then go to

>Settings

>Mail, Contacts Calendars

>Default Account (under Contacts heading)

>select iCloud.
