Feb 9, 2013 5:45 PM in response to BDAquaby artngai101,Thanks for your response BDAqua, I'm using my other laptop to reply. Your suggestion tried, but didn't work. Strangely, the keyboard stopped functioning after the new iMac is setup with ID and password... then it refuses to type a single word.

Or...
Bootup holding CMD+r, or the Option/alt key to boot from the Restore partition & use Disk Utility from there to Repair the Disk, then Repair Permissions.
If that doesn't help Reinstall the OS.

I'll try your suggestion and let you know.

System Preferences>
Accessibility>
Select Keyboard (under title "Interacting") >
uncheck both Enable Sticky Key and Slow Key
Now I can type.
