Can you help me "start up" my Mac?
I am having trouble starting up my Mac. Have to use the "option, command,P,R" method to get anything working. Some things then work but all my desktop icons are missing. Can anyone help??

I cannot tell what problems you are experiencing.
At a minimum, I would reset the SMC and PRAM (that is what you have been doing). SMC is reset like this:

Then I would run repair disk.
