Logic Pro 9

I have logic pro 9 on my Mac Book, 13" screen, white, early 2009 version.

I recently upgraded to Mountain Lion, 10.8.2.

Now when I open up Logic - after upgrading the osx -

Logic says my 15 day trial of lounge lizard has expired.

I never started a trial, nor do I have a serial number for it.

How do I stop it from scanning the system every time I open Logic Pro 9?

What is up with this?

Thanks for any help!

Simple way...

Open Logic Pro and go to preferences/AudioUnit Manager

Find your plugin there and uncheck it... Now it won't load or be recognized by Logic Pro.

Not so simple way...

Navigate to your System Library (Not your User library.. There are two.. Your System Library resides in the root of your System HD.. Your User Library resides under your User Name in Users) and go to Audio/Plug-Ins/Components and delete the Plugin there...

I think that some care is needed with terminology and detail here:

There are 3 "Library" folders on a standard OSX system disk:

"User": the one specific to each User Account in OSX. <User>:Library. This one is hidden by default in Lion and later

"Local": the one at the root (top) level of the boot drive. (This is the one AoS is referring to as 'system')

"System": this one is inside the 'System' Folder at the root level of the OSX boot disk. Generally, this one contains "essential stuff" to provide core system functionality. Generally, one should not mess with this.

When the OS loads resources from Libraries, it will do so giving priority to the 3 libraries in the above order.

IN REPLY TO PANCENTER:

It came bundled with Logic when I ORIGINALLY PURCHASED LOGIC from Apple.

You took my post totally out of context, and pasted what you wanted into another post.

When you buy Logic, Lounge Lizard comes as part of the Logic 9 package.

When I updated my OSX, there was a compatability issue, and Mountain Lion

would not run the plug in, even though it was part of the original Logic package.

I never heard that before, especially since Logic has its' own Electric Piano plugin, the EVP88. So I think you got some sort of extra from the retailer where you got Logic, but it was never "part of the logic package". It has to be installed separately (at which point the trial time starts, either that, or when you first use it) and deliberately, it cannot somehow have "come in under the radar".

Anyway, simply deleting the .component file from either your User or local library before you start Logic will do the trick.

Lets clear this up, I did not voluntarily install the Lounge plug in "seperately", it was installed with, and came with, or was part of - my Logic installation. I'm not going to argue this point anymore. Look it up or ask someone who knows whats up, because there is no other explanation. I never said it came in "under the radar." I do remember seeing a prompt saying "installing Lounge Lizard plug in." It's been over 3 years since I installed Logic, but I know that I DID NOT INSTALL IT SEPERATELY, OR AFTER - NOR DID I BUY IT SEPERATELY.

IT WAS PART OF THE LOGIC PACKAGE.

And BTW, the problem has fixed itself. I have started Logic a few more times after posting this and it has stopped asking for a serial number for Lounge Lizard. Again, there was a compatability issue with Mountain Lion.

And, BTW AGAIN, all I want to do is record some song ideas. As far as I'm conceraned this is all pointless, because the minute I have to fix an issue, or delete a plug in, or deal with software issues, CREATIVITY GOES OUT THE WINDOW.

Thanks for everyones help.

I DON'T REALLY GIVE A CRAP ABOUT LOUNGE LIZARD, I JUST WANT TO WRITE AND RECORD SOME SONGS.

Giovanni,

Trust me when I tell you that Lounge Lizard is not and has never been a part of the Logic Pro or Logic Studio install. It is a 3rd party plugin sold by a comany called Applied Acoustic Software (AAS)..

Here is the link to their website and that product

You have probably forgotten that you downloaded the demo version and installed it...

Having said that, your language and attitude are not appropriate to this forum and therefore I ask that you please try and remain civil with those other users who you may or may not agree with.

Thank you.

"Art Of Sound"

Let me tell you whats not "appropriate:"

Users saying that they are "reporting me" as if I pirated some software.

Users copying and pasting parts of my post out of context, accusing me of doing something illegal.

And, you telling me what I did.

I did not download the plug in, FOR THE LAST TIME.

I'm not going to argue with you anymore, and I'm not going for you telling me what is inappropriate.

Your superior attitude is innappropriate.

You're the one who is put off that someone dissagrees with you.

Thank you.

Please note I did not accuse you of anything other than having a faulty memory....The inapproriateness of your posts relates to how you have expressed yourself, which is why your posts were reported and either edited or removed... as you may have noticed.

...and again, you can disagree as much as you wish but Lounge Lizard was never a part of either Logic Pro or Logic Studio. That is simply a fact.

The reason I keep repeating this fact is so that other people reading this thread do no get misled by your comments. You have to remember that these threads can and often are read by many people not only now but in the future so it is important that they remain as factually correct as possible.

If you, or anyone else wishes to confirm my assertation, contact AAS's Eric Thibeault, their Product Specialist or Benoit Charland, their Chief Software Designerand ask them if their product was ever included as part of Logic Pro or Logic Studio and then you will then have the correct answer.. which will exactly as I have stated.
