Friend brought an iPod to me to engage. Too many attempts with wrong password. Looked at many websites, forums, iTunes. None have given me the proper way to make this thing work. Any true cures?

Try to connect it to itunes again and use the restore option in itunes. it will erase the whole ipod and reinstall the system. All data will be lost on it.

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.
