Unauthorised charge on my credit card, need immediate resolution

I am using iTunes 11.0.1.12

I recently tried changing my apple account settings - change country from UK to India and:

1) In UK there was a mandatory requirement to provide credit card info. I got the same screen. i.e. to update profile, provide VISA or MC credit card data.

2) Updated with address & credit card info from India

3) Clicked ok

4) Got a charge of Rs.60 on my credit card.WHY????

5) Went back and checked, I now had a option to provide 'none' in payment options, as in , I need not provide credit card information.

I am shocked at the level of breach in security. No one ever does an unauthorised charge. Please reverse this immediately.

I am furthur disappointed to notice, there is no voice support or email id for complians related to billing,purchases...Is it legal to operate online sales and not provide support?

As AnaMusic has pointed out, we are your fellow users, not Apple

However, from what I can make out, Rs.60 is a very small amount of money (approx 71p in the UK) so this suggests that it is a test transaction to validate your card. If so, it will automatically be refunded to your account, before you are expected to pay anything.

It's the usual procedure, it happened on my account when I first set it up.

@the fiend : thanks for your suggestion. There has been no refund. It is not the 71p that bothers me. It is the fact that the money was taken off my card without my consent and without any prior intimation. It is just not done. I see a lot of threads with this subject line. Must be a common problem.

There is no customer support you can call up in any country. And as you can see the support forums are not clear either. What would I do if it was a $7100 charge? I will try taking it further. Thanks again.

As I said, it's a test transaction to validate your card. It is a common procedure and the amount should be credited back to your account before you are due to pay anything.

But it wasn't, was it?

You do that, especially if the test amount hasn't been credited back to you.

Hi Diavonex,

I checked the link. The conclusion of the 3 paras is that if you buy something, iTunes store will place an authorisation hold.

I have not purchased anything from apple store, simply changed my country from UK to India. My guess is its a bug in the software. I saw another post on this forum from someone who changed their country from india to Canada. I guess India a 'paid' location 😉

But thanks for pointing it out, in case I buy something in future.
