ive updated ituness on my laptop and all my non itunes bought music has disappered. what do i do to get it back?

On rereading your post is it just some of you music that is missing?
Were all your music files located in the iTunes media folder or were they somewhere else. if so where?
Are the missing tracks in your library but with exclamation marks next to them or missing entirely?
