Cannot read usb disk

I had a usb disk attached to an iMac, using it without problems

I ejected it and connected to another iMac

"usb disk can't be opened because you don't have permission to see its contents"

I plugged it back to the first iMac and I now get the same message like the other computer

Get Info shows Me, Staff and everyone with 'Custom' privileges I cannot change despite I unlock settings with my password.

What can I do?

Thank you

iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.8)
