Firefox keeps vanishing!

Hi guys,

I installed Mozilla Firefox rather than using safari, as I already understand firefox.

So, I downloaded and installed it, but now everytime I boot up the mac, it shows as a question mark on the bar at the bottom. When I click the question mark, it has me physically move firefox into applications and replace the existing firefox before it will work.

Does anyone know what I have done wrong.

I am positive that it's a user error, as I have no experience with Apple machines.

Kindest regards,

Tom

Yes I did. I downloaded it and clicked install. Then, to complete the installation it popped up a box asking me to drag the firefox logo into the applications folder, which I did.

However, now everytime I start the computer, it asks me to drag the file across into applications again, so I do and it tells me that I already have one in there. "Do you want to replace the file?", I click "yes" and then it will work.

However, when I start the computer again, I have to go through all this crap again.

It's possible the .dmg downloaded installer file keeps re-opening at boot up.

Open a new Finder window and do you see Firefox as I've indicated? If so, click on the eject key to get rid of it. Also, in your downloads folder you probably have a 'Firefox.dmg' file - you can delete that. Now try a restart to see if it has fixed the problem.
