That is just BRILLIANT. No more importing & exporting through gmail using a browser or using Thunderbird email program to massage the contacts.

In Automator, the "Export Format: Spreadsheet (tabs)" in "Get Contact Information" step really floats my boat.

Fast and flawless. Thanks ever so much.

I set up the steps as described by BMachine (open Contacts, select list, select all, open Automator, drag Contacts: Get Contact Information, drag Text: New Text Document and clicked Run. Got an empty text document and an error: "The action "Get Contact Information" was not supplied with the required data." So that didn't work. Running OSX 10.8.5. Too bad this discussion peaked several months ago.

Put a Get Selected Contacts items action before the get contact informtion. In my example, that would replace the Get Specified Contacts.

In either method, you must get the contacts you wish to work with.

WIth Get Specified, you "hard code" the workflow by selecting the specific contacts in the action. With Get Selected, you select the desired contacts within the Contacts app, then run the workflow.

Or, if you're just lazy and don't like setting up conditional processes, you can go here: So much simpler.

    What's a "conditional process?"
