iPod touch 4th gen's screen is completely white?

My mom's iPod touch 4th gen suddenly went white while she was using it. It was fully charged when this happened. We've tried to restart it by pressing the home and power button at the same time but nothing happened. We also tried to connect it to iTunes and reset it through there (because other people in these communities had suggested it) but iTunes won't recognize the iPod. The screen has been white for about an hour now.. what can we do to get it back to normal?!

Try:

- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on

- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.

- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
