iTunes 11 - Typing 'a' into search results in Beach Ball of death

Anyone else having this problem

If you leave it 5-10 minutes control will come back and you can try again

I have about 60k mp3s, 15k TV episodes and 2.5k movies.

Since uprgeding to 11 I am seeing odd beheaviour

ie

I used to be able to drag a file from Finder to iTunes and it would add the file, ie movie but that no longer works

I have tried adding movies by File/Add but no joy.

Finally I can right click on a movie and choose to open th emovie in iTunes, the movie plays. But as soon as you quit the movie it still has not added it to the Movies collection

Any ideas?
