How can I use java 6 and five9 salesforce adapter on my mac, nothing works?

Hi, I am new to using a Mac and so far this is driving me nuts with the Java stuff. I do not know if I messed it up already, but for starters, I accidentallly installed Java 7 then I tried to remove Java 7 which I think worked. I see all these different commands and solutions posted but so far I have had no luck. I need to use the five9 Java aplications on my Mac with salesforce, right now nothing works. Five 9 requires Java 6 which I can not seem to get the runtime to work. I might be talking in circles, but this stuff is getting fustrating.

You cannot use a Mac, or any apple other i-Device, natively with Five9 software. The solution is to load virtual machine (VM) software enviroment on your Mac along with Windows and Java.

Virtual Machine Software:

Free: Virtual Box,

Paid: Parallells or VMWare

Install and run a copy of Microsoft Windows in the VM enviroment

Windows 7 supported

Windows XP Pro supported.

Windows 8 not supported but unofficially seem to work just fine one you are used to the new desktop.

Don't forget to use a quality USB headset. Plantroincs comes to mine. But others will work too of course. After your Mac is running the virtual machine environment with its copy of Windows, take a moment at ths time to ensure the USB headset is also working with your vm environment. Both the speakers AND the microphone should be useable. If not, then check your Mac OS and VM software to ensure the headset resources are being shared.

You also want to enable the desktop fusion features of your virtual machine. While this will not affect Five9 operation, it will make the whole vm environement usage seem more contiguous, unified and pleasant on your Mac.

Next download and install a suppported version of Java for your Windows vvm environment. At this point you cannot use Java 7 with all of the Five9 applications and VoIP.

Java Release 6 works and is supported for all Five9 applications and the Salesforce integration at this time. Officially all version after Update 15 are supported. However, Update 32 (1.6.32) appears to best to use. Later release 6 updates are not yet linked to the Five9 integrations page.

Java Release 7 is not supported at this time for all Five9 applications. Certainly not for the applications that have a VoIP component. Within Release 7 it appears the best to use is Update 5 (1.7.5). However, new testing is probably going on all the time so this information may be obsolete by the time you read it.

Install and run a supported Windows-based browser. Five9 defers to the list of browsers on the Salesforce.com site. However, some browsers work better than others when running in concert with Five9 software, the Salesforce CTI Adapter 4.0 integration components, the Salesforce.com website, and the applications and features you might be using with Salesforce. Bear in mind the the supported Five9-SF integration use the SF CTI Adapter (Salesforce CTI Toolkit) version 4.0.

Mozilla Firefox (Latest version for Windows)

Google Chrome (Latest version for Windows)

Microsoft Internet Explorer MSIE 8.0 or MSIE 9.0 (MSIE 10.0 is unsupported at this time but it seems to work ok if you are running Windows 8.)

Apple Safari (Latest version for Windows)

You may have to make some configuration changes to the brower after install for a better experience. Consult the Five9 and Salesforce.com sites for the recommended configuration settings.

Log into your Five9 account and proceed to their Integrations page. Download the Five9 Salesforce integration client. The assumption at this point is your Salesforce administrator has already performed the Five9 package installation and configuration into your Salesforce instance. If not, then have the admin do so. I'll not cover all of the steps needed to download the Five9 SF desktop client integration as those steps are documented on the Five9 site. Just ensure to the two integration component icons are visible in the Windows system tray once the client is installed.

Log into your Salesforce account. You should see the Five9 integeration sidebar appear on the left side on the browser window. Consult the Five9 docs for login and feature usage.
