Check the email account that you used to set up the account for an email from Apple. You need to click the Verify Now link to verify the account (see image below). Check both your inbox and your spam/junk folder.

If it isn't there, go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage your Apple ID, sign in, click on Name, ID and Email addresses on the left, then to the right look for a link to resend the verification email.

If it's been more than two days, you'll have to contact iCloud support for help. Otherwise, you might want to wait as Apple documentation indicates it can take up to 48 hours.
