When I am pairing my ipod nano gen 6 to my car it is asking for a passkey to be entered into my nano. Where? There is no keypad. It cannot complete the pairing.

Your car is trying to connect your Nano as a hands free device (think cell phone) which as you've found will not work. You car stereo has to have the Bluetooth profile A2DP for it to work.
