Folders opening slow on 2010, 8 Core Westmere?

Hi,

I sometimes have issues when double clicking on a folder on the desktop. They appear to open slow or they open as though in slow motion or a choppy feel to them. I am thinking this might be the video card. It's the original one that came with the MAC PRO. Maybe I need to upgrade to the next level of video cards? I DON'T think it's the Ram as I have 32 gigs installed, using latest version of Snow Leopard. Any help would be appreciated? Thank you

12GB RAM you say. Is it all showing up at its proper sizes in :

About this Mac > ( More Info ) > Memory

All status = "OK" ?

when you run Disk Utility and select That Hard drive by Hadware_name, does the SMART status say "Verified" ??

Are you running into problems with tasks hogging the processors?

Runaway applications can shorten battery runtime, affect performance, and increase heat and fan activity

... any over 10 percent?
