If you have iCloud it is automagical.
Thanks Russa for your reply.
I thought it was automatic [ or as you say, automagical ] but it isn't and I have to make similar entries on each device. This isn't what I expected.
.. It looks like it is only sync'ing after you open and close the Reminders app on your Mac; or if you assign a reminder date to the reminder in each List. However, it's not consistent across all platforms...
Thanks again Russa. Here is what finally worked for me. I make certain that the Mac is on Reminders and not Mobile Me. Then I go to Settings on the iphone, go to Reminders and then Sync.Under Sync, All Reminders should be checked. Then, if I am entering a reminder on my iphone, I go to Show More at the bottom of the Details page. I then go to list and check icloud Reminders. Now everything entered will also appear on my Mac.
Entering a reminder on the Mac first requires nothing further.
Now Russa, it is truly automagical.
Thanks for your help.
.. this sounds confusing... has to be a better way...
There probably is a better way. There usually is. But once I set this up I found Reminders to be easy and indispensable.
Perhaps I just need an editor.
I looked in spotlight for a "reminders" app, and it did not find it.
I do every bit of typing I can on a real keyboard instead of my phone or pad, and was hoping to be able to set up reminders on my Mac, but I'm not finding out how. I have been using iCal, but figure Reminders is more appropriate.
Hi Howard, Are you just trying to enter a reminder on your Mac and have it instantaneously appear on your iphone? If so,my 2/12/13 rreply to Russa, above, which sets out how I do this should work for you. Before replying to you today I went through each of the steps and it works fine. Russa is right in that it may seem a bit confusing but be patient. Good luck.
You said to make certain that the Mac is on Reminders and not Mobile Me. That's where I got stuck. I thought Mobile Me is the old name for iCloud, and am not finding any setting for Reminders.
I have opened Reminders on my Mac. On the left side I have On my Mac, beneath that i have Mobileme mail to do, next I have icloud and then Reminders. I selected Reminders and then following the directions I gave on 2/12/13 [ above ], I am able to sync the Mac with the iphone.
Make sure you set up Settings as I suggested on 2/12/13.
I don't know how to open Reminders on my Mac. Spotlight doesn't find it. If I click it from Finder in Applications, I get the following error window:
You can't open the application
"Reminders.app" because it may be
damaged or incomplete.
That must be the problem. But what is the fix?
You may need to visit the Genius Bar. However, you can also access Reminders through Launch Pad. See if that helps.
Launch Pad, is one of those features I never think about. At least I know what it does (unlike, say "Services"). No, it points to the same app as finder does, with the same error.
It's off to the Genius Bar for you. Sorry I couldn't help you more. Good luck.
I added reminders to a list on my Mac, but they would not show up on my iPhone. Closing the Reminders app on my Mac made it update on my iPhone!
