How do I convert DVD to VHS?

Hello,

I have several DVDs which I'd like to copy to VHS cassettes, using my computer. These are DVDs that won't play on my set top dvd player but will play on my G4. I have an ADVC-100 DV Converter, but it doesn't seem to let me send a signal out to a vhs deck. Any help very much appreciated, as these are to be shared with a family member in another country who can play vhs but not dvds.(we sent her a USA standard NTSC deck)

thanks,

Keith

Your video converter should be able to work in both directions. I've not tried to record using a video display TV adapter cable (like that which comes with a PowerBook), but in theory, it's just sending a display signal to the TV, so the VCR should be able to record that analog signal. Any video file the Mac can play could be recorded this way.

G4s have Firewire connectors that can pass video/audio digital signals back and forth. None come equipped as standard equipment to accept/convert analog video to digital; that has to be done with a converter like yours or with some camcorders (that have a pass-thru feature).
