I just fixed this problem for myself after reading some other questions.
Went to General > iTunes Store>
Then I signed out of my iTunes account, and then signed in again and retyped my user name and manually typed in the ".com" instead of using the .com "button", and VOILA! Suddenly it works.
That worked. Thanks a ton.
That wasn't the solution, it's a red hearring. The real solution is to sign out, then sign back in.
That's exactly what the other poster suggested doing, so of course it is the solution.
