I just updated my 2nd generation Apple TV, which has apparently rendered it unuseable. The home screen comes up, and whenever I tried to go to Movies or TV shows, it just turns off briefly and goes back to the main screen. I can't go to TV Shows or Movies. I've tried rebooting the device, rebooting the router, and restoring the Apple TV. Nothing has made a difference.

I just fixed this problem for myself after reading some other questions.
Went to General > iTunes Store>
Then I signed out of my iTunes account, and then when I signed in again, I retyped my user name and manually typed in the ".com" instead of using the .com "button", and VOILA! Suddenly it works.

I just updated my Apple TV and now it isn't working.
