I am upgrading from Iphone 4 to Iphone 5. Successfully transfered apps, music using ITunes, but contacts didn't transfer. When I went back and tried again, (re-syncing contacts from old phone), I only got my husbands contacts, he syncs his Iphone4 to the same IMac. We have the latest version of Itunes (just upgraded to Mountain Lion). How can I get my old contacts instead of his?

erase your new phone, by going to settings general reset -erase content and reset all settings
connect to your mac and restore from your back up.
Do not sync contacts, since your mountain lion has contacts of your husband.
Verify, that you use separate icloud accounts. Do not sync anything with itunes (including your apps and music) until you sign in to your own icloud account, after you verify that you have your own contacts on the phone.
