how to make my mac osx and ipod 5 compatible

I have just got an IPhone 5 and I cannot try and sync it with my Itunes library. What do I need to upgrade?

You need to upgrade the computer to Mac OS X 10.6.8 by buying a Mac OS X 10.6 DVD from the online Apple Store and running Software Update; 10.6 requires an Intel Mac with at least 1GB of RAM.
