Hi Anatoly,

I downloaded your Gannt chart fromhttps://yadi.sk/d/EsoDdJ303Fi4m6 and opened it in Numbers for Mac. Excellent work!

A 2D Stacked Bar Chart with white fill for Start Date. So simple!

I deleted some rows (items) from Table 1 but the chart Y axis stayed at 35 items, with no bars for the missing items.

To make the chart more interactive, we can select whole Columns A, B and C in table 1

and insert a new 2D Stacked Bar (Table and Chart are both on the same Sheet for clarity):

Now we can add (or delete) items (I added Item 12 to Table 1)

and the chart automatically updates.

Thank you for such a simple solution to this 4 1/2 year old question!

Ian.

Hey guys,

I've made Gantt's chart template for my workflow and it took around 40 minutes to fill data in table.

You can download it here https://yadi.sk/d/EsoDdJ303Fi4m6

I've put comments in two cells of the table of first sheet.

Some detail (in case if don't understand comments inside the file): in case your stage starts from first day and its duration is one or two or more days/months/minutes etc just put in "Start date" 0 and in "End date" number according to duration; in case if your stage starts in middle just put in "Start date" number of starting day/month/minute etc and add exact days/months/minutes etc to get correct indication in the chart: for example, if my stage starts in ninth month and will finish in twelve month, I put 9 in "Start date" and 3 in "End date".

Hope it will be useful.

Alexander,

Numbers (and Excel) are not the best tool for Gantt charts. There is a free Project management software package called OpenProj. Ultimately I spent the money to get OmniPlan. There are several others in the Apple App store for project management. If you want to use a spreadsheet like excel to make a gantt chart I would think you can use a similar method to what you used to do.

There is also a free office suite called Libre Office which is more similar to MS Excel.

Alexander,

I built this template a few years ago in iWork '09 Numbers. It is primative in terms of project management features, but it makes a nice chart for inclusion in a report. I loaded is as a template in Numbers 3.0 and it seems to be functional.

I see your question is marked as solved, but I thought you might have some interest in this anyway...
