My iPhone won't go into silent mode. I've pushed the button on the side to make it go silent but it doesn't, neither does the ring with the cross over it come up on the screen. I only discovered this issue today while sat a meeting and my phone suddenly shoots off. Not happy ; ( any help?

My phone is already off for that but my phone has the accesility and it only lets me go to silent on the accessibility but when I push the button on the side it won't work I tried to get rid of the accessibility but when I do the ringer button on the side doesn't work at all

Try a reset. Press & hold the Power and Home buttons simultaneously, ignoring the red power off slider, until the Apple logo appears. Then release both buttons. This should not affect any content on the iPad, it is similar to rebooting your computer.

Try this:
Step 1 Goto Settings--> Sound--> Ringer & Alerts
Step 2 turn off change with buttons
